IEC – International Endurance Championship

IEC – International Endurance Championship – 3rd Season

The IEC (International Endurance Championship) is entering its third season. After full starting fields in the second season, we are of course hoping for a lively participation again. As an endurance event naturally requires a lot of time, we have, as in the previous season, set the dates for the autumn/winter half-year 2025/26. In addition to sim racing, consideration for family, work and private life is our top priority. The vehicle classes have been slightly modified. In addition to the LMP2 and GT3/GTD vehicles, the GT4 vehicles will be included this time. This is a pure team event. 2-5 drivers per Team can be registered. You can find all information and access to the registration form on our Discord. If you want to experience tough but fair endurance action, then this is the right series for you. Come to our Discord and register. As usual, we will be on hand to answer any questions you may have. You can find the rules for the series here by clicking on the „Rules“ button.

Race Day Procedure for the International Endurance Championship Series

Server Opening
The server opens at 4:00 PM Central European Time (CET/ CEST).

Practice
Practice takes place from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM, CET/ CEST .

During this time, participants have the opportunity to practice on the race track and test their vehicles.
It is recommended that all teams allocate sufficient time for practice to adapt to track conditions and refine their race tactics.

Qualification
The qualification will take place from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM CET/ CEST. There are timeslots of 20 minutes per class.
approx. 5:00 PM Start of the LMP2 class.
approx. 5.20 PM Start of the GT3 class.
approx. 5:40 PM Start of the GT4 class.
(The times are approximate and may vary if the server starts a little later. Important is the start of the qualification in iRacing itself).
If the 20 minutes qualifying time expires within a faster lap, this may still be driven to the end.
The next class may only start from its own pit when the 20 minutes of class qualification begin.
Pressing the TOWING button is permitted at any time during the qualification.

The participant’s lap times are recorded and used to determine the starting grid.
The driver who qualifies, must also drive the start.

Note: Teams that do not set a time during the qualification are obliged to start from the pit lane. Concerned teams must wait until the last team of the starting field (usually the GT3s) has passed as well.

Race
The race starts at 6:00 PM CET/ CEST and has a total duration of 6 hours.
A rolling start (flying start) will be used, where the vehicles are already in motion when the race starts.
Participants must follow the start procedure and position themselves on the grid in a disciplined manner.
Overtaking in the grid before the start zone is prohibited and will be penalized accordingly.
There will be information about a starting zone on the respective track before each race.
This start zone applies to all classes and must be adhered to. The class leader will set the start.
The LMP2 class also starts in the start zone or at the latest at the green light.

Rules for pit entry and exit
Entry: The speed limit applies from the yellow cones onwards. The outside lane (fast lane) must be used until immediately before your own pit.
Exit: After completing the pit stop, it is mandatory to return to the fast lane immediately. Vehicles that are already on the fast lane have absolute priority. In case of doubt, the exiting vehicle must reduce speed and get back in line behind the fast lane vehicle.“

In-Game Date/Time
The exact in-game date and the in-game time can be viewed in the iRacing UI under the respective league race.

Track Options
Maximum Number of Teams: A total of up to 60 teams are allowed.
Start Type: The race starts with a rolling start, where the vehicles are already in motion when the race begins.
Fast Repairs: 1x

Race Options
Incident Warnings: The regulations allow for 25/10 incident warnings.
Quali Conduct Scrutiny: Moderate
Driving Aids: All driving aids are allowed to accommodate individual driving styles and participant preferences.

Track Conditions
Realistic Weather: The weather system will be activated to simulate changing weather conditions during the race.
Leave marbles on the Track: The marbles, which accumulate on the track, will remain active to simulate realistic loss of grip when leaving the racing line.
Practice Starting Track State: The start status of the track at the beginning of the training session is created randomly when the race server is created.
Quali Starting Track State: The track state at the beginning of qualification will be carried over from the practice state to ensure realistic conditions.
Race Starting Track State: The track state at the start of the race will be carried over from the qualification state to provide a consistent racing experience.

Race Introduction Rules
1. LMP2 class race start: The leading LMP2 class continues at the pace car’s set speed and opens the race in the start zone or at the latest on the green light.
2. GT3/GTD class: The GT3/GTD class must maintain a continuous gap of approx. 10 seconds to the GTP class immediately after the last LMP2 has started.
3. GT4 class: The GT4 class must maintain a continuous gap of approx. 10 seconds to the GT3/GTD class immediately after the last GT3/GTD has started.

Starting rules for the other classes
The other classes (GT3/GTD and GT4) start as soon as the class leader accelerates within the start zone.
The correct double file formation must be adopted by the start zone. Once the leader of the class has accelerated, they must not brake or lift off the throttle.
Prior overtaking in the grid is strictly prohibited.

These rules apply to the introductory lap/race start and are intended to ensure a smooth and safe process.

Regulations for RaceDay Registration/Withdrawal
The registration for the respective RaceDay takes place in the Discord server under the channel „#iec-raceday-registration“. All teams have to register there if they want to compete at the RaceDay.
No drivers need to be named. The registration of the team is sufficient.
The deregistration also takes place in the Discord server under the channel „#iec-raceday-registration“. Teams have to sign out there if they can’t participate at the RaceDay.
If a team withdraws from the league race three times in a row, it will lose its spot. If a team fails to register or withdraws from the league race two times in a row, or fails to appear in the league race despite registration two times in a row, it will also lose its spot.
Re-registration for the league is possible if there are still available spots. We aim to provide a large field of drivers and, as organizers, ensure the best racing experience for all participants.

Driver and team changes are possible a maximum of 48 hours before the start of the respective race. The reason for this is that drivers who have obviously joined too late have not read the regulations and blatant misconduct has occurred.

Discord
Every driver in the IEC Series must join the Discord server.
All drivers of the IEC have to change their discord name on the CAS server to their plain name registered in iRacing.
The Discord server is used for communication, announcements, information, and everything related to the races and our community.
The Discord voice channel #IEC-VOICE may be used by all drivers during the race. If this tool is accepted by many drivers, further voice channels can be created.

Chat Silence
After incidents or accidents in the race, any disagreements and apportionment of blame regarding the situation must be clarified exclusively by private message in the Discord between the parties involved. Depictions and reports of incidents/accidents in the public chat are strictly forbidden. The posting of videos depicting such situations in the race is prohibited. Likewise, uninvolved parties may not address or comment on situations involving other drivers that have occurred during the race. Violations will result in ‘Discord Time Outs’ and/or race bans.

Minimum Driving Time
The minimum driving time is determined by the iRacing Fair Share regulation.
To be categorised, the team must have completed 50% of the race distance.
The iRacing „drive Fair Share“ rule is applied:
Formula: Number of race laps divided by number of drivers divided by 4
Example: 50 laps / 2 drivers / 4 (fair share fraction) = 7 laps
Each driver must have completed at least 7 laps.
Teams that fall below the minimum driving time will be automatically disqualified by iRacing.

Penalties during the race by iRacing
The iRacing framework for penalties is in effect.
iRacing penalties are indicated by a black flag displayed in the driver’s field of view.
A rolled-up black flag signifies a warning, and the driver must, for example, slow down to avoid a penalty during the session (Slowdown).
An unfurled black flag represents a penalty imposed by iRacing. The driver must return to the pit lane to serve the penalty.

Regulations for Proper Completion of Races/Events:

Finish Line and End of Race
A race is deemed to have been duly completed when a participant crosses the start/finish line on the last lap and is waved off by the black and white chequered flag, or has completed 50% of the race distance in his class.

Use of the Start/Finish Line
The start/finish line should always be kept clear and should not be used as a parking spot after the race has finished. Participants who have completed the race must proceed to the pit lane after the race. They can either use the in-lap or a designated area where they will not impede the following traffic.

Early Departure from the Race Server
Participants who leave the race server prematurely (rage quit) and do not rejoin will be excluded from receiving points for the entire event. This exclusion does not apply to „disconnects“ caused by connection issues.
Leaving the server when you are not driving is of course permitted.

Glitches/Bugs
Exploiting game mechanics or manipulating the simulation/software for personal advantage is strictly prohibited. Depending on the nature of the offense, this can result in disqualification from the race or even a league suspension.

Templates/Liveries and Advertising
All templates provided by the Trading Paints software are allowed. It is the responsibility of all teams to adhere to the guidelines set by Trading Paints.
The logos of the IEC Series and the organizers (CAS iRacing Community) are permitted for advertising purposes and can be voluntarily displayed on the vehicles. These logos are available on our website.

Note: This regulation serves as a guideline for the proper completion of races/events. It is the responsibility of all participants to comply with these rules. In the event of any violations, the organizers reserve the right to take appropriate measures to maintain the integrity of the event.

Regulations of the CAS iRacing Community:

Fairness and Respect
We kindly ask all participants to show consideration for each other and behave in a fair and respectful manner. Each driver races for their own position and represents their team in their respective championship class. Unsportsmanlike behavior, such as intentional ramming or blocking of other vehicles, is strictly prohibited.

Line selection / Lapping / blue Flag
Each driver has to drive a clean and for the following traffic a predictable line. Sufficient space is to be left for the opponent – even in a duel. Changing lanes is only permitted if this does not endanger other drivers. The announcements of the spotter can be very helpful here, but are not the only decisive factor.

In principle, the driver behind must adapt to the driving style of the driver in front. This applies in particular to the lapping of a slower vehicle by a faster vehicle.
The slower vehicle in front has the right to the ideal line despite the blue flag. The vehicle that is lapped must drive a predictable line, i.e. stay on the racing line.
The faster vehicle behind must find a way to complete the overtaking process safely (if possible on a straight line).

The meaning of the blue flag differs from the official iRacing Sporting code. The blue flag gives an instruction to let the faster rear vehicle pass (in the iRacing Sportingcode the blue flag is just a hint of a faster vehicle).
The front slow car must allow the rear car to overtake as quickly as possible and not deliberately block it.
Overtaking must be made possible at the latest when the vehicle to be overtaken has positioned itself next to the other vehicle (a divebomb from a distance of several meters is not permitted here and will be penalized accordingly in the event of contact).

On-Track Behavior
A damaged, slow vehicle should always stay on the edge of the track on its way to the pit lane, keeping the racing line clear. If a vehicle is so damaged that it cannot move out of the danger zone under its own power within a reasonable time, the driver of that vehicle should tow it to the pit lane.

Moving under Braking
Moving under braking, i.e., changing the line during braking, is not allowed and is discouraged. Each driver should choose their position before corners in a timely manner and have stable braking points to avoid dangerous situations.

Communication with the CAS iRacing Community Team
If you have any questions or uncertainties of any kind, please promptly communicate them to the CAS iRacing Community team. Only through this can we improve and provide you with the best possible support. We are always available for criticism, suggestions, feedback, and questions.

Submitting reports
Incidents that lead to a team being disadvantaged can be submitted on our website under IEC-RESULTS-REVIEWS-PROTESTS approx. 48 hours after the end of the race (cool-down phase). The time window for submitting reports will then remain open for 48 hours.
The report must include the timestamps of the current session, the vehicles involved (e.g., #123), and a brief but neutral description of the incident.

IEC Series scoring system
The scoring system of the IEC Series applies to each class separately and is determined by the race management. Information regarding the scoring system and point allocation will be announced prior to the start of the championship and may vary from season to season. Scoring will take place via the iRacing League Manager (iRLM).

Live stream
The races of the league can be streamed live by us. Each user can also stream live their own cockpit view. An commented live stream may only be carried out by the CAS Iracing Community or thus commissioned streamer. In the stream, the Iracing user names of the participating drivers are shown via overlay or mentioned in the comment.

The live stream will be broadcast on our Twitch channel.

Changes in regulations
We reserve the right to change or adapt the regulations at any time due to current circumstances or organizational necessity.

Pointsystem

Participation Points
In order to make participation in the races more attractive, so-called participation points „PCP“ are awarded.

PCP“ will be awarded for each race participation. There will be four „PCP“ per race.
These points will be added to the teams‘ race points as bonus points.

The allocation of PCP points for the respective race is awarded automatically by the League Manager and is not explained further in the reviews.

Fair Play Rating „FPR“
The teams with the lowest number of incidents (maximum 25) in each race in each class receive Fair Play Rating points (FPR).

The awarding is staggered as follows:
0-15 incidents = 3 FPR bonus points
16-20 incidents = 2 FPR bonus points
21-25 incidents = 1 FPR bonus point

If several drivers have the same number of INCs, these drivers receive the same number of additional points.
The FPR points for the respective race are awarded automatically by the League Manager and are not explained further in the reviews.

FPR points are only awarded if the race is completed in full (90% of the total number of laps).

Penalties Catalogue

The classification is the sole responsibility of the race organisers and will not be discussed further.

Basics of an evaluation

Contacts that can be traced back to a „netcode“ remain unpunished.
If the sighting shows that a contact would have occurred in any case, a penalty will also be imposed for a „netcode“.

The following applies to a regular overtaking maneuver (no lapping) between vehicles:
The overtaking vehicle must be at least halfway to the vehicle in front in order to be able to claim the position before the bend. In case of doubt, the overtaking manoeuvre must be aborted.
If there is insufficient overlap at the start of the bend, the overtaking manoeuvre must be aborted.
The driver being overtaken must give the overtaking driver sufficient space in the following bends to complete the process.

The penalties imposed by iRacing remain unaffected.
There are currently four stewards.
Stewards who are themselves involved in an incident may not participate in decisions on the catalogue of penalties.
The penalties imposed will be available on the homepage under „IEC ← Results ← Reviews“.

Penalty categories

Category Starting offense (light) (15 seconds time penalty)

  1. Minor offence. E.g. driving too far behind the vehicle in front… Extendable, depending on the situation.

Category Starting offense (heavy) (60 seconds time penalty)

  1. Serious offence. E.g. causing a start accident, starting outside the start zone, starting before the class leader… Extendable depending on the situation.

Just like point penalties, time penalties are also only imposed after the race.

The difference to point penalties is that these are not triggered by a report, but are actively assessed by the race committee after the race itself. Therefore, no report is possible or necessary for the start.

Category 1 (no penalties are imposed):

  1. Obvious netcode/ classic racing accident

Category 2 (5 penalty points)

  1. Classification by the stewards

Category 3 (10 penalty)

  1. Classification by the stewards

Category 4 (15 penalty points)

  1. Classification by the stewards

Category 5 (exclusion from a race or the entire league as determined by the race management)

  1. Insulting, harassing or disrespectful behavior in the chat, voice channel or on any other iRacing communication platform
  2. Deliberate ramming, revenge actions or deliberate disruption of the race.
  3. Repeated serious misconduct on the racetrack (also in the case of multiple incidents in different races)

Come on and race!
